A six-year-old boy has been suspended from his primary school for singing the popular LMFAO song 'I'm sexy and I know it'.

Sable Elementary School in Colorado, US, suspended D'Avonte Meadows for sexual harassment after he said the song's title to a schoolgirl during lunch line, ABC has reported.

The first grader was suspended for three days. The boy's mother Stephanie Meadows is outraged by the incident.

"I could understand if he was fondling her, looking up her skirt, trying to look in her shirt," she said, "That, to me, is sexual harassment."

However, the school has defended their decision, saying they were "committed to providing equitable learning for all students".

"Aurora Public Schools is committed to providing equitable learning for all students. We have policies and protocol in place to prevent any disruption to the learning environment. Due to privacy laws, we are unable to discuss appropriate disciplinary consequences about a specific student," Media Relations Specialist Paula Hans, said in a statement.

Stephanie said she was going to sit with her son and see if he understands what the song means.
