RESCUERS were confronted with a bizarre scene when a woman became stuck between two walls in Portland, Oregon.
It's unknown how the woman, 30-year-old Anita Mann, got there. She was wedged tight, and her feet were not touching the ground.
Firefighters used braces to support her and turned on a portable heater to keep her warm in the winter chill while they dropped an air bag into the opening to slightly spread the walls.
"She was in good spirits," Rich Chatman, of Portland fire department, said.
"We just tried to reassure her ... we weren't going home without her."
Rescuers cut a window-sized hole in the concrete wall then applied a soapy lubricant. Ms Mann  then wiggled toward the hole as the rescue team pulled her to safety.
She was taken to hospital for treatment.
