Female basketball coach arrested 'for affair with girl student on her team'
A school basketball coach has been accused of multiple accounts of sex abuse after she allegedly had an affair with a female student on her team.Investigators say Darcee Baney, 27, began a sexual relationship with the student from Belvidere High School in Rockford, Illinois on November 1, 2008. The alleged relationship continued until March 31, 2009.
Barney turned herself into police on Tuesday morning after becoming aware of their investigation.

Investigators say there were five incidents of sexual abuse that took place between November 2008 and March 2009.
Baney was a star high school basketball player at Harlem High School where she held the record as the top scorer with 1,986 points. She had also played basketball in college.
At the time of the alleged abuse, she was 23 and the victim was 17.
Baney, who is married, also coached at Harlem Middle School and parents who have any concerns have been told to contact police.

Aggravated criminal sexual abuse is a Class 2 felony, punishable by three to seven years in prison.
Criminal sexual abuse is a Class 4 felony, punishable by one to three years in prison.
Baney has been on paid administrative leave since September 5th, said Harlem School District Superintendent Julie M. Morris.
'This is an unfortunate situation, and I want to assure parents and students that our students and their safety remain the district’s number one priority,' Morris said in a statement.
