Female basketball coach arrested 'for affair with girl student on her team'

  A school basketball coach has been accused of multiple accounts of sex abuse after she allegedly had an affair with a female student on her team.
Investigators say Darcee Baney, 27, began a sexual relationship with the student from Belvidere High School in Rockford, Illinois on November 1, 2008. The alleged relationship continued until March 31, 2009.
Barney turned herself into police on Tuesday morning after becoming aware of their investigation.

At the time of the alleged relationship, Baney was a varsity basketball coach at Belvidere High School.
Investigators say there were five incidents of sexual abuse that took place between November 2008 and March 2009.

 

Baney was a star high school basketball player at Harlem High School where she held the record as the top scorer with 1,986 points. She had also played basketball in college.
At the time of the alleged abuse, she was 23 and the victim was 17.
Baney, who is married, also coached at Harlem Middle School and parents who have any concerns have been told to contact police.

She has been charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and five counts of criminal sexual abuse.
Aggravated criminal sexual abuse is a Class 2 felony, punishable by three to seven years in prison.
Criminal sexual abuse is a Class 4 felony, punishable by one to three years in prison.
Baney has been on paid administrative leave since September 5th, said Harlem School District Superintendent Julie M. Morris.
'This is an unfortunate situation, and I want to assure parents and students that our students and their safety remain the district’s number one priority,' Morris said in a statement.

Filmmaker arrested for fake terror stunt

A US filmmaker has been arrested for sending a teenager onto the street with fake grenade launcher to test police response times.

Michael Turley, 39, allegedly filmed his nephew dressed in a sheet while pointing the realistic looking weapon at passing cars.

The video, which was posted on YouTube, appears to show the fake terrorist on a busy road in Phoeniz, Arizona, for 15 minutes before police arrive.

But Phoenix Police Department spokesman James Holmes said officers were on the scene within a minute of being alerted.

"They told us they were just making a movie," Mr Holmes told the Arizona Republic, adding that there was no arrest that day.

"We deemed it a pretty dumb action but we didn't know what their real intent was, so we initiated an investigation."

Turley faces charges of giving a false impression of a terrorist act, endangerment and contributing to the delinquency of his minor nephew, 16, who also faces charges.

Boy, 4, steals mum's car

A four-year-old boy stole his mother's car while she slept and took it for a joy ride, before crashing into a pick-up truck.

The mother was fast asleep at her home in Garsnas, Sweden, when her son took her car keys and drove off.
He managed to drive for about a quarter of a mile, successfully making three right turns, before crashing into the truck.
The first his mother knew about the incident was when she was awoken by a local shopkeeper knocking at her door to bring her son home.
"When she explained that my son had been out driving the car I thought it was a terrible joke at first. I couldn't believe it was true," the mother told the local Ystads Allehanda newspaper.
"I have no idea how he managed, he's never driven a car before," she added.
"I had the car keys in my jacket pocket and it was hanging so high that I thought he couldn't reach it. But he did. Don't ask me how, I was asleep."
A local police spokesman said officers would not be pressing charges - and were glad that no one was injured.

Man Busted For Curbside Sex With Old Couch

Human-furniture coupling interrupted by off-duty officer

SEPTEMBER 24--A Wisconsin man has been accused of having sex with an abandoned couch, police report.
The human-furniture coupling was interrupted earlier this month when an off-duty cop out jogging late one night spotted Gerard Streator, 46, trysting with the yellow couch, which had been left at a Waukesha curb.

As detailed in a misdemeanor criminal complaint charging Streator with lewd and lascivious behavior, Officer Ryan Edwards reported seeing “a subject leaning over the couch facing down and it looked like he was having sexual relations with someone on the couch.” The cop noted that he “could see the male’s hips thrusting up and down on the couch.”
As he approached the couch, Edwards yelled, “What are you doing?” Streator, investigators allege, responded by jumping up and running away. As Streator fled, Edwards reported, he “could see that the defendant’s penis was erect.”
Edwards concluded that Streator “had been thrusting his pelvic area against the cushions and trying to sexually gratify himself by rubbing his penis between the two cushions.” It is unclear whether the reference to two cushions meant that the couch was, in fact, a love seat.
Edwards chased Streator to his apartment building, but the suspect “quickly pulled the door closed behind him.” He was arrested the following day at the hotel where he works.
Streator is scheduled to appear next Monday in Waukesha County Circuit Court.

Female teacher at elementary school 'brought meth into school to get high before class'

An elementary school community is in shock after learning a third-grade instructor, recognized by the PTA for her stellar teaching ability, was arrested on Wednesday for using meth on school grounds.
Vicki Bruce allegedly kept the drug wrapped in tin foil stashed away in a photo album in her purse and used it on-and-off over a seven year period - before she would teach her students at the Reno Elementary school in Azle, Texas.
A former student even said that Bruce told her pupils to stay off drugs and kept a 'Say No To Drugs' poster in her classroom.

The 46-year-old has taught at the elementary school for 10 years and has received awards for her teaching from the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) as well as recognition from her teaching colleagues.
'It's very shocking and surprising,' Patrick McGrath, whose son was a student in Bruce's class last year, told KDFW-TV.

 

'To have a teacher that you trust with your kid doing any kind of drug, that they're supposed to be teaching them not to do ... it's real shocking.'
In fact, McGrath's son Nolan said that the teacher gave a speech last year about staying off drugs.
'We had a no drug poster, he said. 'She said don't do drugs. It's bad for your system and if you do you'll get caught.'

Police were tipped off about a drug using teacher at the elementary school by an informant in an armed robbery case in nearby Wise County.
When police first began investigating Bruce, she was found with meth in her car, at the school parking lot, according to the arrest warrant affidavit.
She turned herself into police on Wednesday after she learned there was a warrant out for her arrest.

The school superintendent said the district was cooperating with law enforcement and that the teacher was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Pee-Wee football coach suspended for 'paying 11-year-old players to purposefully injure opponents'

The head coach of a California children's football team has been suspended amidst allegations he paid players to target and hurt opponents so badly they'd be unable to compete.
Officials suspended coach Darren Crawford of the Tustin Pee Wee Red Cobras along with the association's President Pat Galentine until the program can investigate and rule on the allegations.
Crawford allegedly offered players up to $50 for whoever made the 'hit of the game,' according to reports in the Orange County Register.

That championship season: The Red Cobra's bounty method allegedly left one child with a concussion on their way to the national title

Players told reporters they would usually vote on who had the best hit after a game.
In one instance where no voting was necessary, a helmet-to-helmet collision with an 11-year-old running back for the opposing Santa Margarita player left the boy with a mild concussion. 
In an interview prior to his suspension, Mr. Crawford denied the allegations as the fabrications of disgruntled parents forcing their children to lie.
'It's amazing what disgruntled parents will put their kids through,' Mr. Crawford said.

 

If the parents are angry its unlikely because Mr. Crawford's coaching methods didn't work.
Last year the Red Cobras finished their regular season undefeated on the way to the Pop Warner Super Bowl where they finally fell short, ending their year at 12-1.
Mr. Crawford's accusers say the coach came up with his unique motivation after vowing to avenge a bitter defeat at the 2010 Pop Warner Orange Bowl.
Former players said Crawford explained his system during an Oct. 27th film session at his home, where he told the team that the player with the most votes would win the money and that the most money would be won if the other team's best player was hurt too badly to continue.
The players were too eager for cash to worry about the proposal's sportsmanship. One told reporters: "I was so excited, I didn't think that much about it."

Pop Warner officials say the investigation may take several weeks. The organization's Orange Empire Conference commissioner, Bobby Espinosa, said he found no evidence of a wrongdoing after reviewing allegations from six parents and four players.
The NFL suspended four players on the New Orleans Saints for a similar cash-for-hits scheme that ran three seasons from 2009 to 2011.
Former assistant coaches John Zanelli and three player interviewed said the bounties began four months before the Saints scandal made news.

Japanese Chef Cooks and Serves His Own Genitals

Mao Sugiyama, a self-described “asexual” from Tokyo, cooked up, seasoned and served his own genitalia to five diners at a swanky banquet in Japan last month, Calorie Lab reported.
In most cases, “asexual” is a word used to describe a person who is non-sexual. Sugiyama, however, embraces it as a way to show that he does not affiliate with either gender.
Sugiyama sparked a firestorm of interest on April 8 with one tweet: “[Please retweet] I am offering my male genitals (full penis, testes, scrotum) as a meal for 100,000 yen …Will prepare and cook as the buyer requests, at his chosen location.”
That tweet generated so much buzz that Sugiyama decided to host a public tasting, which he called ‘Ham Cybele- Century Banquet,’ at Tokyo’s Asagaya Loft event space. Six people signed up for the $250/plate experience; five of them showed up for the big date. Sugiyama, dressed in chef’s attire, seasoned and braised his own genitals on a portable gas burner and served them up in various creative dishes.
Shigenobu Matsuzawa, a 29-year-old event planner, was one of the “lucky” diners. “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance, so I decided on the spur of the moment to do it,” he tweeted.
Diners had to sign waivers releasing Sugiyama from anything that might have gone wrong from eating human genitals. A local police spokesman told CalorieLab that despite many citizen complaints, there was nothing they could do, since cannibalism isn’t illegal in Japan.
Just days after Sugiyama’s 22nd birthday, the artist underwent elective genital-removal surgery, divvied up the severed penis shaft, testicles, and scrotal skin between five people, and garnished it with button mushrooms and Italian parsley.
On April 13, five of six diners who signed up for the $250-a-plate feast, sat down to dinner. The sixth person was a no-show.
The next day, an organizer posted a blog — subsequently deleted — containing pictures of the event. Images showed dozens of people who attended the event just to catch a glimpse of the rare treat.
The extra diners were served crocodile-based dishes while Sugiyama cooked up the exclusive meal.
The story went viral in Japan. Some showed even more interest, while others complained. But Calorie Lab called Japanese authorities, who deemed the banquet legal because there is no law against cannibalism in the country.
